Abigail Donovan, M.D. earned her Bachelor of Science and Medical Degree from Yale University. She completed an internship in Pediatric medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). She then completed her residency in Adult Psychiatry, and her fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, both at the Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital training program. Dr. Donovan is the Director of the MGH First-episode and Early Psychosis Program (FEPP), which provides comprehensive coordinated specialty care for adolescents and young adults experiencing a first episode of psychosis. Dr. Donovan is also the Director of Clinical Services for the MGH Psychosis and Clinical Research Program. Dr. Donovan is also the Associate Director of the MGH Acute Psychiatry Service. Dr. Donovan is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (APA), as well as a former member of the APA Board of Trustees. She has also served as a consultant to the APA’s Council on Children, Adolescents and their Families. She is the co-author of a book on child emergency psychiatry and the co-editor of a book on the management of substance use disorders in the emergency department. Dr. Donovan’s work has been published in a variety of psychiatric journals, including the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry. Dr. Donovan’s interests include the early diagnosis and treatment of schizophrenia in adolescents, as well as systems issues and quality of care improvement in acute psychiatry.
