Michael Murphy, EdD
Dr. Murphy is a staff psychologist at Massachusetts General Hospital and Associate Professor of Psychology at the Harvard Medical School whose work involves clinical psychology, teaching psychiatric residents, and doing research. In collaboration with Dr. Michael Jellinek, Dr. Murphy is the co-developer of the Pediatric Symptom Checklist (PSC) which is used to identify children with psychosocial problems in diverse pediatric, public health, and educational settings. The PSC is one of the most widely used child mental health questionnaires in the world with several million forms administered in multiple national and state programs. Dr Murphy’s other research interests include recovery from burn injuries, hunger and school breakfast, school based mental health, child abuse and neglect, and early childhood interventions.
