Critical Incidents and Crisis Response
Michael Jellinek, MD
May 24, 2023
Session 3: 4:00-5:30PM EDT
School systems are designed to promote learning and emotional development. When a crisis occurs in a school it can disrupt both of these processes, threatening the students who are involved in the crisis and those who look on. This webinar will describe the experience of a crisis in school and provide clear and concrete guidance on the management of critical incidents and how to respond.
This program will examine critical incidents, explore school responses to them, and provide concrete interventions that can be implemented.
Target Audience
This program is intended for psychologists, social workers, educators, and license mental health counselors.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this training session, participants should be able to:
- Describe the importance of comprehensive training for school personnel in crisis management.
- Explain the role of mental health services in school-based interventions following a crisis.
- Discuss the importance of collaboration among school personnel, first responders, administration, mental health professionals, and others in developing a crisis response.
