Acceptance-based behavioral therapies include dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. ABBTs are effective in both reducing symptoms and promoting quality of life in a wide range of clinical conditions, including generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Dr. Roemer will outline an evidence based ABBT model for understanding GAD and review clinical strategies to target the central elements of this model, mindfulness exercises, strategies to decrease experiential avoidance, methods to clarify values and promote valued action, and much more.
