Tele-Neurology Essentials: Acute Care Consults
Course Overview:
This activity addresses observed gaps in team-based performance in tele-neurology consults. Data were collected from local and published sources demonstrating measurable improvements in knowledge, workflow integration, and patient outcomes when structured tele-neurology education is implemented.

- Identify quality and safety risks in tele-neurology consultations and implement mitigation strategies.
- Perform proficiency in live simulated tele-neurology consultations.
- Apply risk management principles in tele-neurology practice to improve patient safety, reduce diagnostic error, and mitigate medicolegal risk.

Course Directors:
Yasaman Pirahanchi, MD, MS, RPNI
Dr. Pirahanchi is a Faculty Lecturer, MGH Center for Neurological Emergencies, Mass General Brigham, a Vascular Neurologist at UCLA Health, the Stroke Director of UCLA West Valley Medical Center, and Associate Director, UCLA Transcranial Doppler (TCD) Laboratory.

Joshua N. Goldstein, MD, FNCS
Dr. Goldstein is an emergency physician who specializes in neurologic emergencies. He received both his M.D. and Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut in 2000, completed his residency at the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency in 2005, followed by a research fellowship in Vascular and Critical Care Neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham & Women’s Hospital. He is currently the Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs and the Director of the Center for Neurologic Emergencies in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital; a Professor of Emergency Medicine at Harvard Medical School; and holds the MGH Endowed Chair in Emergency Medicine Research. He is a Fellow of the Neurocritical Care Society, the American Heart Association, and the American College of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Goldstein has a financial relationship as a consultant for AstraZeneca, Takeda, Octapharma, and Cayuga.
