Michael Parsons, PhD, ABPP is a board certified neuropsychologist and nationally and internationally recognized leader in the area of Cognition and Cancer. As a faculty member in the departments of Psychiatry and the Pappas Center for Neuro-Oncology, he provides neuropsychological services to cancer patients. The neuropsychological evaluations and patient feedback assist in differential diagnosis of cognitive problems, provide treatment recommendations. The goal of the clinical service is to assist patients, their families, and treatment providers in managing cognitive problems and behavioral changes in the context of cancer. As a member of the Neurotoxicity and Neural Repair research program, Dr. Parsons is using advanced imaging methods to study the underlying mechanisms of neurocognitive sequelae in cancer patients. He is a collaborator on numerous clinical trials in cancer, contributing cognitive endpoints and outcome assessment to enrich research projects throughout the MGH cancer center. He is the author of numerous manuscripts, book chapters and books in the domains of neuropsychology and cognition and cancer. He serves as a board examiner for the American Board of Professional Neuropsychology and is the current president of the International Neuropsychological Society’s Oncology Special Interest Group.
