Andrew A. Nierenberg, MD holds the Thomas P. Hackett, MD, Endowed Chair in Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and is the Director of the Dauten Family Center for Bipolar Treatment Innovation, Associate Director of the Depression Clinical and Research Program, and Director of Center for Clinical Research Education, Division of Clinical Research, MGH Research Institute. Dr. Nierenberg’s academic appointment is Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He has published over 470 papers and has been listed among the Best Doctors in North America for the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders continuously since 1994. He has received the National Depression and Manic Depression Association (NDMDA), Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance Gerald L. Klerman Young Investigator and Senior Investigator Awards and the MGH Psychiatry Mentorship Award. Additionally, Dr. Nierenberg has been awarded the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation Colvin Prize for outstanding achievement in mood disorders research, and was listed among the World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017 by Clarivate for being in the top 1% of literature citations in psychiatry or psychology worldwide. In his spare time, Dr. Nierenberg is an avid cyclist and a struggling tenor and soprano saxophone player.
