Dr. Ward is an associate psychiatrist in the Department of Psychiatry at the Massachusetts General Hospital and an Assistant Professor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. She joined the West End Clinic, Outpatient Addiction Services in 2005 as the Medical Director of the Intensive Outpatient Program. She started the Office-Based Opioid Treatment Program at the West End Clinic in 2006. She was appointed as the Director of the West End Clinic, Outpatient Addiction Services at MGH in 2007.
She is a co-chair of the MGH Substance Use Disorders Education Committee and a member the Academy at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Ward is a medical consultant for the MA DPH Bureau of Substance Abuse Services for Quality Assurance and Licensing.
Previously, she worked as the Medical Director of the Methadone Maintenance Program for North Charles Institute for Addictions from 2002-2009.
Dr. Ward received her medical degree from Ankara University School of Medicine and completed residency program in psychiatry in Turkey. She then pursued her career in the U.S. and completed her adult psychiatry residency and fellowship in addiction psychiatry at Boston University Medical Center.
Dr. Ward has presented locally and nationally. She has authored and co-authored more than 19 articles and 4 book chapters.
Her topic of interests are treatment of opioid use disorders, comorbid pain conditions, clinical innovations in increasing access to addictions care, clinical education of trainees and professional academic development in the field of addiction psychiatry. Dr. Ward is board certified in adult and addiction psychiatry.
