Dr. Kane is Clinical Director of the Addiction Recovery Management Service (ARMS). She is also Director of Addictions Services at the West End Clinic, which provides state-of-the-art care for patients with co-morbid substance abuse and mental health disorders. She is Instructor in Psychology (Psychiatry) at Harvard Medical School.
In addition to maintaining an active patient caseload, Dr. Kane directs the standard adult outpatient program and the intensive outpatient program at Mass General Hospital and provides training to residents and fellows in medicine and psychiatry, as well as numerous community groups. She was named Clinical Director of the Addiction Services Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital in 2000. An active participant in ongoing research, Dr. Kane recently completed a project evaluating strategies for motivating treatment acceptance in pregnant, alcohol abusing women.
Dr. Kane received her undergraduate degree in Special Education and taught adolescents with special needs in the public school system before earning her PhD in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis on child/adolescent treatment at Temple University. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital.
