[Course description]

The course includes video lectures and role-play videos that illustrate techniques. You also find self-assessments, tons of resources, and hundreds of slides with research and treatment data. The course also includes live call-in hours with course faculty and an interactive discussion board.

Course materials are available beginning October 5, 2026, and all coursework must be completed by November 30, 2026. New course assignments are released each week, and you can finish the preceding week’s materials at any time to unlock the next week’s materials.

Cancellation Policy

Refunds will be issued for cancellation requests made during the first week of the course, but an administrative fee of $25.00 will be deducted from your refund. Cancellation requests made during the second week will receive credit toward a future offering of the same course. No refunds or credits will be granted after October 19, 2026.

Week 1	Lecture 1: Introduction to ADHD and Executive Functioning (Ellen Braaten) Session Goals: Define ADHD and executive functions (EF). Understand how EF deficits manifest in ADHD. Explore historical, diagnostic, and conceptual frameworks of ADHD.
Week 2	Lecture 2: Neurodevelopment of Attention and Executive Function Networks (Molly Colvin) Session Goals: Review historical, diagnostic, and conceptual models of EF. Brain-behavior relationship, development of frontal lobe systems in ADHD and EF.
Week 3	Lecture 3: Assessment of Attention and Executive Functions (Molly Colvin) Session Goals: Understand methods for assessing EF across the lifespan, differentiating between performance-based measures and symptom-report measures, and understanding the gap between neuropsychological measures and real-world functioning. Identify the strengths and weaknesses of current diagnostic tools (rating scales, NP measures).
Week 4	Lecture 4: Challenges of Pediatric Assessment and Comorbidities (Ellen Braaten) Session Goals: Understanding how ADHD and EF challenges can influence social, emotional, behavioral, and learning abilities at different stages of childhood and adolescence (e.g., infancy, preschool, school-aged, early adolescence, transition). Identify key developmental windows and risk periods.
Week 5	Lecture 5: Challenges of Adult Assessment and Comorbidities (Molly Colvin) Session Goals: Examine how ADHD symptoms and EF abilities change over time. Differentiating between neurodevelopmental and acquired challenges in attentional regulation and executive functions.
Week 6	Lecture 6: Accommodations and Interventions for Executive Dysfunction (Ellen Braaten) Session Goals: Apply EF support strategies across settings and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions to identify accommodations. Learn how to interpret research on EF treatments.
