Bridges to Mental Health Credit Claim Cohort 6 - April 14-15, 2025
Mental illness directly affects 1 in 5 Nebraskans and Iowans. Think about a typical clinic day and how many people you see who are experiencing mental illness. There is a substantial shortage of mental health providers in our region and country. Our workforce challenge is severely unmet. To begin to address this problem, we trialed a two-day session with primary care, specialists and advanced practice providers. The results were encouraging. Ratings of competence and confidence increased. We learned valuable lessons about content expectations to hone our next session.
We are very excited to announce the third two-day session to increase the skills of both primary care and specialists in diagnosing and treating patients with common mental illnesses. The sessions will be held Monday, April 14th – Tuesday, April 15th from 8 am to 4:50 pm at the Henry Doorly Zoo located at 3701 S 10th St in Omaha, NE.
Dr. David Rubin from Massachusetts General Hospital will lead the course along with two colleagues, Dr. Robert Althoff, and Dr. Mona Potter.
13.0 hours of CME through the MGH Institute of Health Professions will be available.
The sessions and CME are free thanks to generous grants from BHECN and the Rhonda and Howard Hawks Foundation.
