Bridging the Divide: Person-Centered Collaborative Care Hybrid Training Event 2026

October 24, 2026

Saturday, October 24, 2026

Individuals living with severe mental health disorders experience inequities in cancer care and premature cancer mortality worldwide. Barriers include mental health stigma, inadequate investment in mental health care, fragmented health care systems and limited workforce capacity, and exclusion form clinical trials. Early access to psycho-oncology demonstrates promise at improving care delivery, yet many clinicians lack the practical skills and interdisciplinary expertise needed to best support patients and caregivers.

In this interactive workshop, participants will learn best practices from experts in patient advocacy, psychiatry, oncology, nursing, and psychology. We will also demonstrate a pragmatic model: the person-centered, virtual cancer and mental health tumor board, that can be adapted across settings globally. The workshop will be interactive and employ multiple educational approaches to build skills in an evidence-based model and apply those skills as a clinician, program leader, and researcher. Interactive components include: polling/audience engagement, video perspectives from patients/caregivers, live demonstration and participation in a multidisciplinary tumor board/case discussion, facilitated small group discussion, and reflection about applications to care settings.

Participants will be invited to share cases and questions ahead of the discussion and have the opportunity to discuss cases in a team setting.

This year's conference will be held via live in person at the Markell Conference Room at MGB Assembly Row, 399 Revolution Drive in Somerville and via livestream. You must register at mghcme.org in order to obtain your CE for attending this course.
