This is a clinicopathological conference about a 30-year-old woman who presented 4 weeks after giving birth with anxiety and distressing thoughts. A differential diagnosis is constructed. A diagnosis is made. Treatment decisions are made.

- Describe how to apply DSM-5 criteria to individuals in the postpartum period.
- Discuss clinical management decisions for mental illness in the postpartum period.

Rebecca Leval, MD
Dr. Rebecca Leval earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Chicago and a Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Certificate from Georgetown University. She earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from Trinity School of Medicine and a Master of Public Health degree from The George Washington University. Dr. Leval completed residency at Creighton University where she served as Chief Resident. She completed a fellowship in Perinatal and Reproductive Psychiatry at the Massachusetts General Hospital Center for Women’s Mental Health. Dr. Leval currently works as a psychiatrist within the MGH Center for Women's Mental Health and in the MGH Acute Psychiatry Services.
