January 21, 2021 Building Blocks to a Diverse and Inclusive Future

Through examining issues of race, diversity and inclusion from a historical perspective, this session will provide insight into current challenges to advancing equity, social justice, diversity and inclusion in current academic medical settings. It will include individual and organizational examples of actions that can be undertaken to address these challenges.

Target Audience

This program is intended for: Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Fellows, Residents, Interns and Nurses

Learning Objectives

  • Explain the historical context of race, diversity and inclusion in academic medicine
  • Discuss benefits of diversity in academic medicine, including a description of the changing demographic landscape for workforce diversity
  • Describe approaches to individual and organizational responses to advancing anti-racism, diversity and inclusion in academic medicine and to addressing the challenges experienced by diverse students, trainees and faculty

    This program meets the requirements of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing (244 CMR 5.00) for 1.00 contact hours of nursing continuing education credit. Advance practice nurses, please note: Educational activities which meet the requirements of the ACCME (such as this activity) count towards 50% of the nursing requirement for ANCC accreditation.

    This course allows other providers to claim a Participation Certificate upon successful completion of this course.
