7th George J. Rosenbaum, M.D., Lecture on Primary Care and Psychiatry: Online Treatment for Mood and Anxiety Disorders in Primary Care

In this talk, Dr. Rollman will present the main findings from the NIMH-funded Online Treatments for Mood and Anxiety Disorders in Primary Care, the first randomized trial to evaluate the effectiveness of providing these technologies through a collaborative care program. He will close his talk with his opinions on where the field of behavioral health technology in primary care is headed in the near future.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this presentation participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss the benefits and limitations of using computerized cognitive behavioral therapy and Internet support groups to treat anxiety and depression in primary care.
  2. Apply Wagner’s Collaborative Care Model to treat depression and anxiety in primary care settings.
  3. Compare use of Epic “best practice alerts” to traditional case-finding methods for identifying primary care patients with anxiety and depression.
  4. Describe several near future developments in mobile behavioral health.
