On-Demand: June 10, 2021 Emerson Award: Genetic Risk Sharing across 11 Major Psychiatric Disorders
June 10, 2021 Emerson Award: Genetic Risk Sharing across 11 Major Psychiatric Disorders
Psychiatric disorders are both highly comorbid and overlap strongly at the genetic level. This talk will present findings using recently developed genomic methods to examine the multivariate genetic architecture across 11 major psychiatric disorders. This includes examining genetic overlap at the genome-wide, functional, and individual genetic variant levels of analysis to better understand the genetic underpinnings of pervasive psychiatric comorbidity.
This program is intended for: Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Fellows, Residents, Interns and Nurses
- Discuss the current state of the literature on psychiatric comorbidity.
- Describe the current state of psychiatric genomics with respect to univariate GWAS efforts and bivariate systems of relationships identified across disorders.
- Describe recent advances in multivariate genomics methods development and how those have been used to understand the genetic underpinnings of psychiatric comorbidity.
