The sociopolitical landscape has dramatically changed worldwide regarding the medical and recreational use of cannabis. This talk will provide insights about advances made about the neurobiological underpinnings of developmental cannabis/THC exposure that maintains a long-term impact on adult behavior. The research describes translational and multidisciplinary scientific approaches ranging from molecular, epigenetic and behavioral studies in animal models as well as human clinical studies.

Learning Objectives
- Describe the long-term impact of developmental cannabis exposure—prenatal and adolescent periods—on neurobiological systems relevant to psychiatric vulnerability and opioid addiction.
- Describe the effects of specific phytocannabinoids, such as tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol, on brain and behavior relevant to psychiatric vulnerability.
- Discuss the potential benefits and risks of cannabinoid pharmacological intervention relevant to craving and anxiety associated with opioid use disorder.
