MGH PGR: February 4, 2021 11th Annual Olga Danieli-Fava, Lecture in Psychotherapy & Professional Celebration: Promoting Youth Mental Health in Low-Resource Settings: Lessons from School-Based Interventions in Lebanon and Haiti

February 4, 2021 11th Annual Olga Danieli-Fava, Lecture in Psychotherapy & Professional Celebration: Promoting Youth Mental Health in Low-Resource Settings: Lessons from School-Based Interventions in Lebanon and Haiti

Mental disorders impose the largest relative health burden on youth globally. However, a substantial mental health treatment gap persists. Young people in these settings encounter additional barriers in accessing quality mental health care.

This presentation will describe ways in which a school-based platform can be used to promote mental health in young people and will consider the benefits and particular challenges of deploying this approach.

School-based intervention studies conducted in Haiti and in Lebanon will be described to illustrate opportunities for-- and challenges to—school-based mental health promotion in resource-constrained settings.

Target Audience

This program is intended for: Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Fellows, Residents, Interns and Nurses
