Overview:

At the end of this learning activity, participants should be able to: 

1.  Identify diagnostic overview of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), including diagnostic evolution and presentation.
2. Analyze and compare the prevalence of ASD in non-referred and psychiatrically referred populations.
3.  Assess the clinical presentation of autism in the context of intellectual functioning.

At the end of this learning activity, participants should be able to: 

1. Describe the clinical presentation of ASD in psychiatrically referred populations.
2. Discuss varying clinical presentations of ASD based on sex, age, and intellectual functioning.
3. Analyze the prevalence, persistence, and morbidity associated with significant burden of autistic traits in youth without ASD.

1. Identify the under-recognition of autism in psychiatrically referred populations.
2. Describe the misconceptions regarding essential components required for ASD diagnosis.
3. Discuss the diagnostic approach and screening tools for the assessment of ASD.
