Psychopharmacology for PTSD in Military Populations

A recent survey demonstrated that fewer than half of self-identified PTSD treatment providers who responded felt that PTSD clinical practice guidelines could be implemented without acquiring new treatment skills. This program will address these challenges by identifying key evidence-based PTSD treatment practices, as well as providing practical suggestions on effective communication with the unique military Veteran population.

The topics presented by John Denninger, MD, PhD, Staff Psychiatrist, Home Base, a MGH and Red Sox Foundation Program, Assistant Professor Harvard Medical School include:

-Military PTSD treatment recommendations & review of DoD/VA clinical practice guidelines

-Treatment By Symptom Category

-Special Topics/Other Treatments

-Communicating psychopharmacology effectively to patients

-Helping Patients Anticipate and Deal with adverse effects

This course is offered at no-cost to learners.

At the end of this program, participants will be able to:

-Apply current best practices for psychopharmacologic treatment of PTSD in military populations.

-Identify common challenges and misperceptions when interacting with Service Members and Veterans to promote effective communication.
